My name, Jónfríð Eliasen, has always proven to be problematic when introducing myself. But my name is a byproduct of my unusual country of origin, the Faroe Islands; where the Norwegian Sea meets the North Atlantic. I grew up within the islands' magical atmosphere, raw nature and local culture — still left untouched by big-city madness. The natural contrasts of the landscape and the constantly changing lighting sparked my curiosity for the visual. It is where my passion for creativity and storytelling grew and developed. My origin has always been at the core of my photography — and is particularly evident in my more fantasy-like photographic work. Looking back I can see how becoming a photographer was a natural progression and how it has always been inherent in my self-expression.
I have a Bachelor of Photography with Honours degree from QCA, Griffith University in Brisbane. I majored in Creative Advertising, specialise in Fashion and hold a continuous passion for Digital Retouching.
