"(In this honours research project) I aim to create a heroine who avoids the masculine expectations of popular culture, who emerges non-objectified and who blends the binaries of both masculine and feminine attributes. My project involves visualising her through the medium of photography, accompanied by other characters and in a narrative context created through the method of photomontage. I believe that there has yet to be a heroine who illustrates a true representation of the female gender, something that I seek to rectify."

"With digital technology, photographers have been presented with the creative freedom – especially in composition, recontextualisation and alteration of images. It is from that discovery of creative freedom, in particular, that I realised my fascination with digitally constructed spaces. With the technique of photomontage and digital photography, I can capture environments in their original form, reconstruct them and present them to the viewer as an unfamiliar, sculptural fantasy-world created solely from my imagination"
